The fridge is a panel ready refrigerator that we installed a chalkboard on instead of matching the cabinets.

We went to Biloxi about a year after Hurricane Katrina and we saw so many, many old, glorious oaks that had been destroyed--uprooted, broken, shriven by the storm winds and water damage...
Homes can be rebuilt and often better than before--
but only time and nature can create an oak that is majestic...

We travel to Florida quite a bit now and I find the Florida landscape fairly depressing because most of it is scrub or palms...
two items that just aren't that attractive to me...

Thanks for some great photos...

A quick tip about Spanish moss that will be brought into the house: From the tree, drop it immediately into a Zipper bag, then into the microwave for 10-15 seconds. It kills all the critters and doesn't hurt the look of the moss.

Is this porch 1 x 4 tongue & groove? Is this porch exposed at all to the elements?

Our large wrap-around porch, while covered, is still exposed to quite a lot of sunlight & rain in heavy storms. I am concerned about cupping and expansion issues. Meranti has not worked well. Will Ipe hold up better?

It is either 1 x 4 or 1 x 6. We can't remember. The porch has a roof and an overhang, but still gets sun and rain. Ipe is dense & durable, but needs to be maintained unless you want it to weather to gray.
