About Us

After 12 years of gaining invaluable interior design experience, Sal Modifica opened his own interior design company, Modifica Interiors LLC, in 1990. Modifica Interiors is versatile in that they complete projects varying from traditional, to transitional or classical, and focus on transforming spaces to the clients' desires and needs. They take a hands on, detailed approach, working with clients from concept to completion. When Sal first meets with a client, he takes into consideration what the clients truly want—not just a definition of a style, but what exactly does the style mean to them? He listens to the clients to discover the true reality of how they want to style their homes. Do they want to design their home based on who they are or how they see themselves? Design is a nonverbal, visual language that not many understand. Sal Modifica has the natural ability to ‘have a conversation with space’. The options provided by Modifica Interiors are limitless—Sal will present all options based on what he finds appropriate. He looks for things that inspire him by movement and that create emotion. He presents completely customizable and optimum options, followed by discussions based on availability and cost. Modifica Interiors is fortunate to have many new and returning clients, some of whom have returned for 10+ years to design and re-design their homes. Sal is most humbled by the trust that is given to him, and takes pride that his clients have complete confidence in his work.

My wife and I have found Sal Modifica outstanding to work with over many years and projects. He is a great listener who understands our taste, and does not force his own style, but rather offers multiple options for us to consider that are consistent with our interest. The appearance of our home, with a special care on presentation of our artwork, is a source of great pride. He is patient, dependable and unflappable. His trades people, who he supervises, are of the highest quality. If Sal shows us something that we feel is not consistent with our budget, there is no protest. He goes back and searches for something less costly, with a similar feel. An easy personality to work with, he has come to feel as much a friend as a vendor. And he is scrupulously honest in every positive sense of that word.

Modifica Interiors is fantastic, and Sal Modifica (the owner and interior designer) is extraordinary. I couldn't be more in love with the results. The quality of the work, the level of taste, the guidance and flexibility made my experience behind wonderful. My relationship with the organization is on-going and supportive. Sal was able to collaborate me in uncovering the design direction and take me to places I didn't even anticipate I would go. He was a great listener, but also strong enough to know better than I did what I was really asking for. Sal Modifica designed the complete remodel of my lake house during 2011-12. The inside of the lake house was cleared to a shell and Sal envisioned and planned out a space tailored to my comfort and taste. The project included every detail of the reconstruction from window and wall placement and color, flooring and wood ceiling procurement and installation, and entire kitchen design including cabinet, countertops (cement), isle and custom light fixtures. His vision was clearly and professionally communicated to me with ease, with him always being sensitive to my needs, budget and time table. I fully recommend Sal and Modifica Interiors for any project where you need the assistance of a seasoned professional who understands the client comes first, and is able to execute your dream design to exciting results.

Commented: Is the decorative, metallic ceiling an overlay, color & cost?The Ceiling is hand applied silver leaf and then glazed over to soften the patina. Cost is subjective based on the artisan.
