Designer of the first LEED Gold home in Houston. RD Architecture is a full service residential design firm specializing in remodels, LEED and sustainable new construction. Listening to our clients is our highest priority. Understanding what is important to you is the basis for an exceptionally designed project. Everytime.

Services Provided:
We provide architecture and interior design services for new construction, remodels and additions. We also have experience with historically registered homes and comprehensive knowledge of LEED for Homes.

As forward thinkers we enjoy the challenge of designing with uncommon building systems such as ICF or SIPS and sustainable technologies like Solar or Geothermal.

Areas Served:
We serve the Greater Houston Area, however most of our projects fall with-in Memorial, The Villages, River Oaks, Braeswood, West U, Montrose and Bellaire.

    RD Architecture, LLC From what I understand, the builder played around with the gray stain. It is uniquely custom. Sorry! Sherwin Williams has some really nice opaque stains.
    On a side note - it's difficult to match colors in photos. The lens takes in light differently than our own eyes.

    RD Architecture, LLC Brittany, I googled penny rounds and found some immediately at overstock.com. Daltile should have them, too. I would let your fingers do the walking.

    RD Architecture, LLC I do not. This client does all her own decorating. We keep joking with her about opening up her own consulting firm. She finds stuff all over the world and is not shy of garage sales either.

    RD Architecture, LLC melessaray - I don't have the answer to your question. The client hired a separate designer to furnish the home. If I had to guess...perhaps wood panels that prevent the pillows from sinking between the wall and the platform of the bed. Perhaps the pillows are attached to the panels with velcro...? I wish I could be more help.

    Remember: Necessity is the mother of invention. ;-)

    RD Architecture, LLC The length of the kitchen is over 20 feet. From the sink wall to the opposite side of the island it's about 9 feet as is the overall length of the island.

    I'm sure it's possible! The stylized detailing can be replicated for a new smaller plan...however, the combination of these details and the materials used are premium and would cost more than the standards most builders are accustomed. Regardless of size the price per square foot to build this home would go beyond what most would consider economical.

    I might be misunderstanding your use of the phase "economically friendly home." Do you mean, energy efficient, sustainably designed?

    ewe3 We took out a wall 3 years ago between our kitchen and living room because the kitchen is at the back of the house and the view, a small private lake, is out the front.

    Dave Conrad, our kitchen is 11' 5". Depending on what's on the other side of the wall you're taking out, maybe you could get an island in there. The photo from Gast Architects above has an extra wide island; I would bet that both that one and the one by Studio Z are 11' wide kitchens.
