La Lune Collection
Thank you so much for the nice compliments, Titiac. Would love to hear (and see) Lucca's story - please email info@lalunecollection.com. Rocky and Lucy have their own stories - they were both on their last day of "death row" at a shelter when we brought them home. That was over 7 years ago and every day with them has been a treasure.

Great article! I try to do many of these things already, and will try a few more. When my husband and I retired, we moved to a charming town. We have commented many times that the things we enjoy doing on trips are the things we have right here in our new hometown, like enjoying a meal outside at dusk, listening to good music being performed on the corner, or sampling a new ice cream flavor at the local gourmet ice cream shop!

Horizon Interior Shutters
@sigrid: Interior shutters installed on the center window of a bay window configuration can lay flat against the wall, however it does depend on the amount of space between windows. If there is some distance between the outside windows and the center window, you can increase the number of panels to make the individual panels more narrow to occupy less horizontal space on the wall (as was done on the seventh picture from the top).

You can also hinge the shutters on the left window so both panels open to the left, and both panels on right window to the right. Now you can get maximum exposure when all shutters are open.

Many bay openings have little space between windows. In this case you will need to concede that the center shutters will remain closed unless opened temporarily to clean or open the window.

Hope this helps.

Yes, it helps me see that the unused shutters in my basement are going to stay there. Thank you, I keep thinking that unused shutter + need for window treatment = shutters on windows, but you'd made me see that all it does not.

Your suggestion for displaying the mannequin legs reminded me of a lawyer I knew years ago. He bought a very old house and restored it for his law firm, not surprising since his lovely home had originally been a one-room schoolhouse. He loved the character of older places. Anyway, in his private office there was a closet in which he kept a nude mannequin. Depending on who his visitor was, he'd leave the closet door open just enough to startle his visitor. He was quite a character and would have been pleased to know that design later became my career.
