My husband and I moved to Vancouver, Washington from Minnesota to be near our only child, our daughter and her husband and our two grandsons. We bought a 33-year-old house in a senior community. It had great potential but was in need of major updating and we set about finding someone with vision who could help us bring the house up to date. We interviewed several people who were recommended to us by two different upscale home furnishings businesses and quickly decided that Judy Cusack Peterson had the vision, energy and enthusiasm we needed going forward. We were in the middle of pandemic labor shortages, supply shortages and major product delivery delays but throughout Judy kept us informed on every aspect of what turned out to be an almost complete gut. Fortunately we were able to live offsite in a trailer throughout renovation which began with the removal of the entry closet and touched every other room in the house. Two different kitchen soffits were removed, a dining room wall was removed and the kitchen/dining room/family room ceiling was replaced. In addition, both bathrooms were gutted and renovated, flooring and carpeting throughout the house was removed and replaced, window, door and wall trim was replaced and the fireplace was rebuilt and given a new surround. We kept the kitchen cupboards but had them painted. Throughout this entire project Judy kept us informed and kept the subcontractors on track (all of whom she had worked with before and we saw were really artisans). She provided us with advice on design and direction while at the same time providing us with choices that fit so well with our vision of what we wanted our home to be. We have now moved into our home and are very happy with every aspect of the renovation. We have a beautiful almost completely new home that totally fits us and our new life in Vancouver and we are very thankful to have found Judy.

But with Judy’s expertise, experience, and resources, our project made steady progress. It has been a long and covid road to our wonderful kitchen! Our house is over 20 years old and it was time to get rid of the white 4x4 tiles. We had an idea of what we wanted and contacted Judy who told us unless we wanted to blow out walls the idea would not work. She came up with a fantastic design to fit our kitchen, add storage and counter space and update the entire room. We asked for a non trendy look that will be a selling point in the next 5ish years and that is exactly what we got. We liked her work so much we ended up redoing the bathroom, fireplace and foyer. The great thing about Judy is she lets you know what will and won't work and comes up with solutions that are better than what you wanted originally. Also, she is the general contractor so any problems that arise with subs are handled. For instance, the contractor doing our baseboards did them wrong. Judy had someone in to fix it and dealt with the unsatisfactory work right away. Our timeline for this project was crazy. We signed the contract in February of 2019, shut down before much started due to covid in March, started back up in June and finished (everything but a couple cabinet handles sent in the wrong color) in October. Our appliances were back ordered due to Corona Virus and Judy was in contact every day trying to track them down. Our kitchen is so amazing Judy is already in the middle of remodeling a friend's kitchen!

Judy is not just a designer, her contractor-self knows how to get things done! She is an absolute pleasure to co-create with. She took all the stress off my husband and I and is a master of taking care of details. We trusted he designer eye to see the vision and she created possibilities that we didn't even know we would love. She puts here whole heart and soul into the project. We are so in love with our house and with Judy and can't wait to work on future projects with her! We would recommend her to anyone!

This is our fist home and at the time we had no idea on who to hire to help us, and how to make our home look more modern. We chose Judy because we had the opportunity to see her work first hand in an open house. Our renovation included replacing wooden floors, remodeling the fireplace, updating the stairs and stair railings, updating the trim and changing most of the lighting throughout our home. Judy provided many great and creative ideas within our budget, and more importantly, found the right people to do the job. She was on top of getting everything done with impeccable quality and delivering in a timely manner. Our home underwent an extreme makeover within a few months, we were extremely happy with the results. After completing the job, she went through our home rearranging our existing furniture and decor, and she even provided additional suggestions that we had not thought about, which made a real change on the final look of our renovated home. We are absolutely certain to have made the best decision in hiring Judy, she is amazing! We truly appreciate her experience, talent and honest advice.

Judy is energetic, knowledgeable, creative, kind, and very professional. She listens to her customers. We were making a offer on a house that needed a lot of ‘updating’. Judy was on-time to our meeting went through my current house and then went through the new house. She helped alleviate my fear about all the updating we would need to do. Our deal fell through, but I was very impressed with Judy and would call her again in a heartbeat if I ever need design help again.

This is a long overdue review for Judy at Transitional Designs LLC. We met about 6 months ago when I was in the early stages of moving into a new home. I originally asked July to help with inspiration for paint colors and it soon became evident that my vision for a comfortable home couldn't be completed without changing the look and feel of common areas and bedrooms. It eventually, with my full approval and buy in, turned into a complete redesign of the first and second floors of my home. To her credit Judy was capable of developing a vision that I became extremely comfortable with after a number of intense conversations focusing on my needs and desires. To assist in the redesign Judy relies on a good network of local suppliers and contractors who were able to supply a wide range of items for me to consider ranging from paint, to wallpaper, to furniture, to tile, to light fixtures, to wall decor and more. We discussed budget up front and I'm very pleased that the overall result was completed in a timely, progression fashion with great results overall. I am often complimented on "my" good and inspiring taste these days and I owe it to Judy. She goes beyond the call of duty meeting contractors and accepting deliveries during work hours - she even spent a good deal of personal time giving my entire house an extra boost of tender loving care prior to my arrival home after a work trip where a great deal of work had been completed. Finally, Judy was respectful of the items I already owned and collected over the years and worked to incorporate them into the master plan. This is something I did not expect or plan for up front, but the end result looks seem less. I'm very grateful and would recommend her without hesitation.

During the course of construction, there were so many decisions that we didn’t feel qualified to make. Judy helped us to identify the elements that meant the most to us and made the design decisions (wall color, flooring, carpet) that helped our favorite elements shine! She respected and worked within our budget and in some instances even saved us money! I would recommend Judy to anyone in the process of building a new home (and wish I would have found her earlier in the process)!

We are so glad we chose Judy from Transitional Designs with our interior designing, she went above and boyond our expectations! I was never fully happy with our home until we hired her. Our goal was to have a simple yet modern and cozy home and that’s exactly what we have now, anyone that comes over always compliments it. We moved to Camas from California earlier this year. The house we purchased needed both cosmetic updates and some remodeling. I looked at Houzz for a design professional in the area and liked Judy's statement regarding her services and the reviews of her work. We would definitely recommend her for both major and minor design work. The reasons are that she is knowledgeable about materials, sources and workmen; she listens and meets expectations about your desires and vision regarding the finished design and budget; and she is "hands on" regarding outside vendors and workmen, making sure that products and workmanship are as needed to achieve the goals. She has a sense of urgency to get the job completed once it is defined. Her suggestions are pertinent to the homeowner's goals

Amazing! I contacted Judy with an urgent need to select flooring after a leak caused me to replace them. Before calling Judy, I'd spent weeks bringing samples home and not finding the right tone to go with my cabinets, etc. I was overwhelmed and finally reached out to Transitional Designs. I should've done that FIRST! Judy helped me right away! Within a day, she came to my home, understood what I needed, went with me to pick out a floor and within a couple of hours (not weeks!) she picked out the floor. I LOVE my new floor.
