We have an area of living room with 80's credenza and shelves. Never mind the colors in the picture you see. We are painting the cabinet and shelves white. We intend to paint the back wall deep gray. We might paint the side walls (on both ends of the shelves) the deep gray too.

QUESTION: as you see, the right side wall of the shelves extends to beyond the cabinetry (to another room). If we paint the side walls, can we end the accent paint just at the point where the room opening begins?
