dishes that is my least favorite thing to do. and we have beautiful dishes..When we entertain my husband helps cook the meal and does the dishes... what doesnt go in the dish washer.. he does by hand and i dry and put away.. he helps with laundry and cleaning the house too. when i do the dish washer i load it with everything that i can possibly fit in. when he does there is no rhyme or reason.. but im not complaining. as long as i dont have to..

Ironing is my least favorite chore. I heard a woman say once that she thought it was relaxing, but not for me! I have friends that say they never iron but I cannot get away with that as my husband likes 100 percent cotton everything.

Dishes, pots & pans. they are always there to be cleaned or put in the dishwasher. I dislike emptying the dishwasher. I'll do laundry.

I HATE ironing never do it - it's been sitting by the dryer for ok I refuse to say how long!
Also, I have 4 dogs and no children so laundry and dishwasher are a breeze. I also have hardwood floors and ceramic tile in the bathrooms so what i HATE more than anything is mopping and vacuuming. Thank God for my cleaning woman.

I loathe dusting. I actually enjoy doing laundry. I do it once a week. I sort and fold in front of the tv and watch a good movie, pausing to move the loads from the washer into the dryer, and then to the family room for sorting and folding.

Cleaning the bathroom - my husband and our 16 yr old son in the house, and me.... Luckily, I put it in our marriage contract that my husband does the bathrooms. "He who can't aim, cleans". HA!

Laundry is easy. Put in a load and start. Then put your feet up and still feel like you are accomplishing something... because you are.

When our kitchen was flooded, we had to wash the dishes ( a first for me). When they finally installed my new dishwasher I was so happy I kissed it. I would never ever want to live in any time period that did not have a dishwasher.

we have lots of cotton too.. but i toss in a damp cloth in the dryer with what ever needs to be ironed and it gets out lots of wrinkles. ..bout the only thing that needs a touch up are cuffs,collars,and the section where the buttons are. but we are retired but we are not sloppy in our clothes.

Of the two choices, I dislike dishes more. But the floors are what I dread the most.

There always seem to be dishes to do and I can't seem to get ahead of the game. Even with a dishwasher, there are always dirty dishes in the sink. I hate that!

@bubbie61-Tip I learned from a former bachelor; use a steamer to steam out the wrinkles.

Assuming you would have to choose between doing the dishes by hand or doing the laundry by hand, this is a no brainer. Laundry is much more manual work than dishes.

Back on May 28th, which is my eldest daughter's born day, I totally agree with Emily. The putting away of laundry is the hardest part for me. Being that we now have an empty-nest, I don't have the girls to fold 'n' put-away as I wash 'n' dry. Ho Hum...& it seems like I clean more now than when they were here...go figure. I guess they were more help to me than I thought lol

Thinking back a few decades when my aunt had to prepare dinner for 10 EVERYDAY because she had 8 kids. I imagine that both laundry and washing dishes were a nightmare.

River Valley he is educated Llama farmer..LOL. we love getting away in the mountains.. and llamas can take us back there. i would love to do horses. with llamas we need to stay in shape. but with horses we could go 3x's further.we also pack with goats. they are in training..we want to get an Outfitters Licenses.take some old geezers with us...LOL

my daughter has a laundry couch with several days worth on it when i go there i spend several hrs putting clothes on hangers and finding socks. putting this in the Right drawer. by the time im done i dont care where they go. as long as it is put away. ! she has 3 boys 3 and under...and the other daughter.. a bed in the spare room.

I don't mind doing dishes or the laundry. In fact I really like laundry challenges... Especially my nephew's Starbucks aprons. However, Ironing and cleaning the bathrooms require a lot more motivation and/or a reward!

Both are necessary; therefore, being optimistic by nature, I dread neither. Obviously, if you have a good stainless steel dishwasher, all you have to do is load and unload it. I load it gradually throughout the day after each meal. Once dinner is over, I load the last daily flatwear and cutlewear, pots & pans, etc., and start the dishwasher on pots & pans cycle after adding the detergent. My preference is to unload the dishwasher at 6 a.m. when I let the Kids (our 4 dogs) outdoors momentarily before going back to sleep another four hours. It's much nicer getting up in mid morning for brunch without having to unload the dishwasher.

The laundry is a bit more tedious. We are moving soon, and are having a laundry shoot installed in central hallway, so there is no need for hampers, or carrying dirty clothes down stairs to basement laundry. After the clothes have been dried, our clothes will be folded and taken upstairs to main floor (no second story!), and put away for use. We only keep one season's clothes upstairs; the remainder are stored on racks in our dry basement, which is convenient. At each season's end, we wash, dry and store in a dash.

Our home is an updated, remoldeled mid-century classic ranch. I preferred bungalow styles, but soon realized the classic ranch had much more space and fit our family much better. After the updating and remoldeling is finished, we will relocate prior to the holiday season. Older homes in treed neighborhoods are what we wanted. Our updated home will never have the large closets and bathrooms that new construction affords, but we will have charm, personality, community and a very nice yard. We decided to open half walls between the kitchen & the kitchen nook, and the dining room and the living/family room with WB fireplace. You get the feel of one open space without sacrificing the separate function of the spaces. The halfwall in the kitchen area becomes a peninsula with 3 counter stools and small laptop computer drawer on the nook side (close for searching for recipes, paying bills, etc., and open shelf storage for everday dishes, etc. The halfwall between the dining and living rooms provides sight lines for the hearth from all areas, and the illusion of spaciousness.

My vote for other is due to the concept of making the best of any and all household tasks and challenges because I believe in joie de vivre.

The daily drudgery of dishes and laundry I can handle. I'm always on top of it so it's not a big deal. My absolute WORST job is windows ... which I only do twice a year ... spring and fall. It is a job I dread and it takes forever (can't do them all in one day). I guess this question was timely ... because I'm 1/2 way through cleaning them and it's getting harder to complete because its getting really cold outside. Ugh! My worst jobs used to be mulching in the spring and raking leaves in the fall ... but we hire someone to do that now ... lol.

I don't Iron except once a year or if I'm sewing something. My chore once a year is to iron all of the dinner napkins needed for special occasions throughout the year. Every October I set up my ironing board and my super Rowenta iron and breeze through 10 dozen napkins in about an hour. ( it's a race against time.) As I use them through the year I wash and neatly fold them each time and tuck them away until ironing day. For daily use I buy napkins that look great right out of the wash without ironing. The only time I use paper napkins is those cute cocktail napkins that come in great colors and patterns. ( my ten dozen napkins were purchased slowly over 30 years)

Doing dishes and clothes are fine with me. I like the cleanliness of doing both and the joy of seeing the empty sink and empty laundry basket.

I don't mind laundry because like others have said, you can have your feet up and still be "doing laundry!!" Also it helps to realize that as long as the family is still wearing clothes you will never be caught up - so chill!! I hate dishes so bad that my husband coined a new term for me.... he says I have a dishability!! Can't do dishes!!

House chores were normal for us farm children. The military had a different view of Men's and Women's work. WE had to keep our barracks spotless and serve in the kitchen duties. I consider dish washing, house cleaning, laundry and taking out trash my God given PRIVILEGE and my moral obligation; I set an example for my children and other young husbands.

For me dishes are the worst! At least with laundry you can walk away from it and do other things.

Laundry b/c of the long process involved! At least when I do dishes, I don't have to fold and iron, etc.....

I hate doing dishes and I own a lot! I love laundry, i prefected my method years ago with four kids.

why don't we just say we all hate anything to do house chores ? haha! BUT, it has to get done and we all do it out of love for our families- even though it may be taken for granted by some- how those nice pile of plates became clean again or how those soft, clean clothes were returned nicely in drawers again. I am use to it now, just make sure after all is done and well, you have 'me' time-sit and relax :)

Grocery shopping is the worst chore for me. I don't like shopping for anything, really, unless I know exactly what I'm looking for, and even then I don't spend a lot of time.

Don't have a favorite chore but putting away groceries after a big shopping trip is the worst!

Out of the two choices, I chose dishes. But I agree with a lot of other commenters, cleaning the bathroom is my number one "ugh"! Just hate it!

I hate washing dishes by hand! Loading and running the dishwasher--a piece of cake.

Cleaning toilets is the worst! I enjoy laundry, and dishes are kind of satisfying!

Two kids and we are a family of runners. The laundry is never ending. Much worse than the dishes. Hanging sports clothes to dry, folding and putting away.....ugh, the pile is calling me. :-)

luckily I have a cleaning lady who does the windows, floors and the ironing plus silver and copper polishing ..... those are the worst chores !
we live in a very big house and have 3 labradors .... hoovering every day and washing all floors every other day are unavoidable .
So cooking, dishes (I rinse everything before loading the dishwasher), laundry, shopping, bathrooms daily as our water is hard and the more fiddly cleaning jobs are my duties ... almost no help from my husband and little from our grown up son. I daydream of living on salad and cheese, living in a less rainy climate (no paw marks) and basically avoid all routine and schedule ....

I forgot to mention my copper kitchen sinks ....
which not only have to be dried after each use but also polished twice a week .... nightmare !

I actually enjoy doing laundry - clothes smell fresh and clean when done. On the other hand, I think the inventor of the dishwasher should be canonized a saint. Worst chore ever is a toss-up between the dishes and the toilet.
