cellular shades on a bedroom door

I have a contemporary home and am installing 2" woodblinds on my windows, but I need a covering for a bedroom door, which has a full length glass panel in it. I want to make sure that I cover the area, so my hardwood floors do not fade overtime from the sunlight. I was looking at 2 different products and need to identify which would be better. I am looking at Hunter Douglas 1 1/2 Duette Architella honeycomb shades but if I go with this, I have to open the shades completely to see in my patio area or One Enlightened Style Window Shading, 2" vane size, room darkening white, fabric wrapped headrail, retractable cord control - which would allow me to use this fabric blind like a regular blind, but due to my door having a handle may cause a problem in wear and tare overtime (Budget Blinds). Any comments or recommendations, please advise. Thanks

Is the only issue fading hardwood? Or do you need privacy, protection from glare, decoration, or some other combination of functions? If fading hardwood is the only issue I'd be tempted to put a UV filter on the glass rather than shades. Or if UV protection and glare are the issues, but not privacy, then I'd go with a solar shade that would still give you some of the view when down.

I am looking at more than the fading hardwood - UV protection, glare and privacy - All of the above. For clarification are you saying the solar shade (honeycomb shade) is the best for all?

Actually, solar shades and honeycomb shades are totally different. Solar shades are great for glare and UV protection and preserving some of the view, but not for privacy. I think honeycomb shades could work well for your various needs, as would roman shades. If you go with honeycombs think about getting the cordless kind--so much nicer looking than long cords hanging down. But you are right that you'll need to lift them up to see out when you want the view.
