the current fireplace is one sided and could be opened up to be two sided as it is placed between the family and ding room. Is this a possible project and what is an estimated expense for this?

Our experience was the same as Nancy's, had to do it from the roof. Expense was about the same I think as it was in 2007. I will say we love it and it was worth it!
