Need flooring ideas to go with hickory cabinets

We would like new flooring in our kitchen. We have hickory cabinets that I like and want to keep, and I like the look of medium colored wood floors... but I think that would look like too much wood and look too rustic than suits me. I think a pretty dark wood floor would work, but I'm just not sure I want to go that dark. So I am hoping for some ideas of what kind of floors would look best in this room. We would like to continue whatever flooring we do in the kitchen through the adjacent living room as well. I would also appreciate any suggestions for new countertops, but my main concern right now is the flooring. I am looking forward to any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks!

Have you consider wood like porcelain tiles they are wonderful for high traffic areas?

There are a large selection on porceilin wood look tiles that ome in all sizes and shades they're great for the kitchen, very durable and look great. I've some pictures on my page if you would like to take a look. Good luck

I like the idea of the wood-like ceramic tiles. I'm seeing them a lot now and they are beautiful. They look like wood without the worry about scratches or other damage. I think a medium slate tile would be beautiful in your kitchen, but I love mixing grays with wood. For counters, I always recommend going neutral and classic so you don't get tired of it. Some granite is so busy! I would look for a granite or engineered quartz with lighter tones that mix the color of your cabinets with the gray of the floors. Then all of the surfaces come together without "matching" too much.

I've done two different colours for you in wood. I'm not really sure if I like either of them but honestly out of the wood I have to work with on my comp, these two are the only ones that looked half decent.

You need color!!! Look into Marmoleum for a cool, sustainable, vintage kitchen look that will look great with your hickory cabinets. Be sure to get a color that contrasts with the wood. If you choose a yellow or beige, it will not pop!

I agree with colour. However not those overly vibrant, no offense, obnoxious colours. You need warmth and even a greyish coloured floor can add warmth depending on what side of the spectrum it is. There are gorgeous options for flooring that will go with these fantastic cabs (my design style is Rustic, trust me when I say they are fantastic.) What if we drew out the dark knot colour? I will check into other options for you tomorrow at work and take pics for you. :-)

go dark to create contrast and change your door color to a bold complimentary color like red and compliment with accessories and a fabric pattern that includes it. Plus zilch those vases on top of your cabinets. vases belong on counters better to leave them plain.
Also a couple of nice counter lights or a chandelier with interest would add ambience and a splash of interest.

I know it’s been a few years but is there anyway you could give me dimensions of your kitchen. We are currently starting a remodel and moving our kitchen and my idea looks almost exactly like your kitchen but when I lay it out in my space it feels too small.
    1.) overall size
2.) size of island and space between island and counters
    3.) what would you change
