I like glass subway tile with granite in a color from the counter and I like the grout to match the tile, as for enlarging the island just keep in mind you need at lesat 36" and better 42" all around the island and that would be measured from the back of the stools to the counter behind them and I would want at least 48" ther because you also have the fridge on that wall.

We just moved and found that we need a side table for the new space. We purchased the Weldon side table from PB, however, it is not quite modern enough. I like a neutral palette with a lot of clean lines and freshness. I tend to gravitate toward Restoration Hardware. Thanks for any advice!

This back-splash would look be perfect in your kitchen! It ties in with both your wood cabinets and floors. I know in the picture the wood cabinets look lighter than what you have, but don't mind the difference. This type of back-splash would open up your kitchen even more due to its mix of colors and liveliness of it. Hope this helps, good luck with everything!
