Extend a little half wall out the width of the peninsula and top it with matching countertop. About 42" tall.

I am in middle of kitchen reno where they are taking out my peninsula and putting in an island. So I vote island. And I have seen ones where they extend into the other room.

Needs to make sense when you do that: a change in materials, or elevation maybe:

A) it looks fine, but you will see whatever counter clutter you have on there from the adjoining room .
B) alternatively, you could extend the wall to the end of the counter perhaps (keeping the size of the kitchen the same). Deborah's suggestion solves for both of these, if it looks OK from the other side of the wall

I also don't love raised bar counters... they seem a bit dated to me? Trying to keep things as open as possible. I am still at a loss!

What are the rooms dimensions? Wall to wall?

Islands are a great feature in a kitchen so I would go with that over a peninsula. One very dated design myth is the sink always needing to be under the kitchen window. having it in the island frees up more counter space. You will also have the prep space of the island to interact with people who are sitting in the barstools. Here is a photo of a successful small island with a sink in it and space for a couple of bar stools.

So the wall with the stove and fridge is 120 inches. The wall with the sink is 89 inches. I was at our place measuring it out and a I have been reading online that we need atleast 36 inches around the island. I don't know if we have room?

Just a little tip, don't buy that shallow cabinet over the refrigerator. Get a deeper one that comes to the front of the fridge. The smaller one is useless and will not look nice.
Our kitchen has a peninsula that comes out into the breakfast area. We have the sink and DW in the peninsula and the view is into the family room lanai and pool. Perfect for interacting with guests. Still lots of light.
Re the sink under the window, on your floor plan it's not centered anyhow so the peninsula will most likely look better.

Peninsula. Not enough room for an island without tripping over it constantly.

Just finishing kitchen renovation...sink in island not by window....we have 38" on one side and 44" on the other....our island is 3 1/2 by 6.I think you could do a slim island.... Do you want space to eat at island? If so, going to tight.
