Fun to see all of you anxious to hear from me, but for now you'll all have to be patient, still no baby. Might indeed take a while before I'll be on here 'afterwards', but I promise I will share the good news eventually!

Typical Houzz situation - here we are, waiting on a contractor...

Pelvic instability prevents me from walking further than our block, so exercize and shopping is off limits. Midwife says I have to be patient (she's right..)

5 Whole days late....!
Oh my....must be interior decorated well.....!

Here in the States, a sure fired way to go into labor is a box of Kraft macaroni and cheese with as much Heinz57 sauce in it as you can stand the taste. Eat that and baby come soon, mama!!!. (So ive heard guaranteed to work) but first babies are more often late as much as two weeks if doc lets you go that long

That is very kind of you to say, auntie, and much appreciated. I am keeping long, irregular hours these days, and so must stay off the threads a bit more, but I have faith that you all will keep fighting the ' reverse pewter' wars in my absence: Houzzers, huzzah! :)

8 Days late......cumon!

Jan 20 he came into our world! His name is Aris, he was 4490grams and 57cms, quite a big boy! The home birth went great, it took 9 hours and left little damage, a few stitches. But also quite some blood loss, so I needed to stay in bed for a week. Feeling quite good now, still taking it easy and madly in love with our little bundle of joy.

What a gorgeous family! Welcome, littlest Houzzer!!!

'Beschuit met muisjes' are traditionally served to celebrate the birth of a child. 'Beschuit' is similar to rusk and 'muisjes' are sugar coated aniseeds. They have he shape of a tiny tiny mouse, hence the name (muisjes = mice). Aniseed is supposed to be good for a woman who gave birth. For baby girls the mice are pink, for boys... you've guessed it :-)
