Where should I place my glass front cabinets?

I am going to get some glass front cabinets to lighten up the kitchen. Problem is I don't know which cabinets to pick. I do not plan on doing all of them in glass just a few as an accent. Please let me know your suggestions.

P.S.
Please excuse the horrible mess!

Glass fronts are a great idea. I think the cabinet to the right and left of sink would be great in glass and the two to the right and left of the range. Will the glass be clear or distorted? Cabinets that hold plates and glassware are easier to keep neat versus those that have spices and oils. Are you adding hardware? If not, I would consider it, it will help break up the expanse of wood and add a bit of sparkle. Painting the island the color of the backsplash will make the room more cohesive as well.

Thanks Maria, I plan to add hardware as well as replace the backsplash all together (I really dislike what we have now). Once that is replaced I will paint the island.

It will likely be distorted glass. I only have about 3 cabinets that are in neat order enough to show everyone who comes over!

Do you think it matters that some of the cabinets go together...like the ones to the left of the sink. They open up to the same shelves. Would it look weird to have one glass and the other solid?

Yep that would look weird. The whole cabinet box should be glass front, same w/ other side of range. Search here for examples of glass front cabinets w/ mullions, that might be a great way to break up the linear aesthetic, though distorted glass and mullions might be too much. You could remove the doors on the cabinets that you are considering for glass and live with them "open" to get a feel for how it would be if they were glass. Will you add under cabinet lighting and outlets when you do the backsplash? You could also down or up light the cabinets and do glass shelves. Are there other changes coming along w/ the ones mentioned above?

Thanks for the suggestions Maria. I really appreciate it! Good idea to take down the cabinets and live with them open for a few days.
I hope to do some cabinet lighting. My husband is not all that handy so we will see what we can do on our own!

What do you think about the two to the left of the sink, and the three in the corner...one to the left of the corner and two to the right of the corner?

Left of sink in for sure. If you divide the box units with glass it will look very strange unless there is a center divide down to where you can change the hinges to make each section appear to be a single box so it would open on the opposite side. This would mean that there would be a center piece to attach the reversed hinges to. I think if you go the other way it will really look like corner cutting. You could remove the faces of those two and see how it looks. Do you have a link to the options for the cabinet faces? Besides color of island and backsplash what other changes are you considering....would be good to know before making a cabinet decision.

I cabinets I mentioned in the corner go together- at least the two on the right side of the corner. The one to the left of the corner is its own large cabinet. The ones to the right of the corner open from the center and are one big cabinet inside with a middle partition in the front. The glass that would be added would be similar to the attached photo.

Do the cabinets end with those two that are left of the sink? If so, glass-front those. Keep the shelves tidy and organized. Hardware on all the cabinets will be a nice finish.

Yes they end to the left. To the right of the frigde I have a long cabinet that is the length of the fridge and a smaller one above that.
