Dinning room window treatments

Hmm. My dinning room faces the cul de sac, I'm not a fan of blinds so when I look for photo ideas on window treatments I often see decorative curtains that look perpetually drawn. Is there a etiquette on dinning room window privacy? I don't mind neighbors being able to peek in but not sure if that is a pas faux in neighborhood living because all of my neighbors have blinds.

Personally, unless privacy or light control is needed - I would rather be able to see outside.
If you like the look of open windows and maybe just want to add some color or texture to the wall space, you might consider stationary panels.
