Yes, toats, it's a white cow named snow. The bird pics are by Kevin Garber...waiting for him to email me his details, as people have already asked. Business is going great...wine this weekend helped and will have cocktails next weekend. Just need server and runner...hard for a new place to find experienced help. Current server taking home tips between 200 and 300 per shift, but I'm having to work too hard.

Bluenan, waterfowl is is coming up in November. July was plein air art festival, which was great. Hot air balloon festival was two weeks ago. Current business is 95% local residents! which is harder draw than visitors, so happy so far.

i just bet the locals are totally loving your place!

Yes...an update would be great, DC! Hoping you're getting a little more "me" time. You worked your tail off this summer! We miss you around the Houzz. :)

Still laboring away...but starting to settle in. Three months in and don't have a single employee that I started with. Staffing has been the largest issue; people have been reluctant to commit to a new / unknown place. Revenue has steadily increased and reservations needed most nights. Reading reviews is interesting...it's amazing how many people would rather say nothing and then post anonymously. 1 star because the cinnamon ice cream tasted too much like cinnamon...really?!? Tea will be available online sometime this month...working through trademark and fulfillment. Finally, getting certified as an organic producer to be able to mark retail product accordingly.

LOL dc, that comment about the cinnamon made me think how often I say, the fish tastes too fishy;)

I hope you will find staff that is willing to stay there and do the job right. It's difficult to find people who will do things the way you want,,that is valid for any business. As for reviews, if that is the worst review you received, then don't worry. I would go there just to taste that cinnamon ice cream and I'm sure other will do the same:)
Glad to hear about the organic certified. I buy organic as much as possible and it's nice to see that there are restaurants out there who are trying to offer this

Good luck with your new venture. I've seen a lot of these ventures fail in the area where I live. People think it would be a great idea to open a restaurant or a gift shop in a cute little building that they love. They don't know what they're getting into being the owner and operator of a small business, working 24/7, hiring, training, and managing employees, managing budgets, paperwork, laws and regulations, taxes. The businesses end up closing because the owners had no idea what they were getting into.

Restaurant is easy compared to the $B and 4000 people I manage during the week...Renaissance man here. Holidays were very good. In winter doldrums right now, but have branched out into catering to fill some of the gap. Introduced a tea infused cocktail menu that's starting to take off. Looking forward to spring when tourist season starts again...as is, we are the highest rated restaurant on the eastern shore. Retail website goes live this month, so will post that here too.

I'm just seeing this thread. Congratulations, DC! I love the vibe of the place. I wish I wasn't so far away (the other Washington!).

I've been told it's very Seattle or San francisco.

We do have some very stylish eateries up here. Tea is big, too. Of course, none of us can live without our coffee!

I tried to not serve coffee and was quickly vetoed. Partnered with another local small business (RiseUp coffee) that roasts organic, free trade coffee

Now I really have to make it there and have some tea and some coffee. I should wait until this winter storms goes away.
We make the coffee at home, but I like to try new beans,,so far, we've only found two blends that we like.

We ate dinner here last night, and the food was wonderful! Service was prompt and attentive, and the decor is pleasing. Nice job with everything!

Oh, great. I was thinking of this thread and Dclostboy just a few days ago. As in, where is that lost boy and how is he doing?

When my husband and I and two others ate here last weekend, it was based on a trip advisor recommendation for a restaurant in Easton, MD. We made a reservation and followed my Google map directions to its off-the-beaten-path location a few miles outside of Easton. As we were sitting there, I commented that I knew I had seen the lovely floor and bar somewhere online. I finally remembered that it was on Houzz and went searching for this thread. Unfortunately, the owner was not there the night that we dined. I would say that both the decor and the food are are a hit!

Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Things still going well, but two full time jobs starting to take a toll. Trip advisor has us as number 1 restaurant in Easton, MD ( ahead of one that made the Washington post top 100). Still working staffing and volume continues to steadily increase with about 75% of rolling 200 credit transactions coming from new card numbers. Can't believe we've been open for only a year and a half :)
