I want to make this wheel fit in to my decor....I have painted the top of the wall Black...then will put the wheel...Does it look to country??? How else to do it??
One Pic of my room...the wheel will go on the wall that the Red/black Picture is..the other pic is the Wheel

Maybe some shade of silver will give it that industrial edge.

If I did paint it a shade of silver...leave the Black?...what about wall colour behind a silver wheel?

Paint the wall red and then add your wheel. Are you continuing on red and black colours?

It is such a small space that I think the red wall would overwhelm the place....yes I am continuing with the red

I do like the idea of silver or possible chrome even to paint the wheel....just afraid big red wall with black wheel might look to country-ish..

it will look silly in silver. you have to let it be a wheel, made of wood. or not use it at all. you can mix styles, sometimes it adds some spark to a room. have you tried it in the space yet?

People take cues from what is around them. There is nothing in the rest of your room that looks country-ish. I would perhaps go for a deeper red than brown red - which would imply rustic...

My advice? Paint it a dark matte color, hang it from the ceiling and, hang old-looking light bulbs from it (no shades!). Good luck!

The wheel is metal..it came off a Hayrack from our farm...I don't have it attached yet to the wall...but first pic is the space...and the other is the Kitchen which is opposite to it...minus those pictures

Don't care for the black wall top. The wheel will be effective on the wall.

so...still tweaking...looks a little barren yet to me so...I am going to add a small dresser like liquor cabinet and move the wheel over...will post after
  • 12 years ago
Consider raising the wheel so the center of the wheel is on the white so it can be seen better.

take the 2 recessed cans and get eyeball trims, so you can wash the wall better.

The wheel looks great - contemporary without being country. You did it when I didn't think it could be done. I like the centre of the wheel in the centre of the black stripe (yes...edging a painted stripe is a B!%@&). Clean, elegant, sophisticated. Just what you where aiming for. Good work.
