I think you should change it as well.since it is above the tub and separate...meaning not as close to other chrome things I would just go for it ,maybe a amber chandelier with Amber crystal...also lowes and Home Depot make light kits that you just screw into your current fixture that hang so no electrician needed if you wanted to go that route

Something important to consider is the height of the ceiling when thinking about changing the light. You DO NOT want a light that can be touched while standing in the tub as that could result in electrocution. It would also be advisable to make sure the lighting circuit that feeds power to the new light is GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) protected.

Once you make certain these important safety matters are addressed, I think from a design perspective you have latitude with the light over the tub. You could play off of the accent colors in your tile, wall color, etc. A chandelier-like fixture, in my opinion, could vary from the overall theme of the room and become it's own standout feature.

Because it is over a tub a semi flush would be best. Don't do a flush mount, if so, just keep the recessed light.

If the height allows why not hang a mini chrome and crystal chandelier.

Both the International Residential Code and the National Electrical Code prohibit most fixtures besides recessed and flush mount on the ceiling. A DAMP rated semi-flush fixture is hard to find.
