This is new construction, so anything goes. I am dealing with an allocated rectangular space of 10' 4" deep and 20' 8" wide. It is a kitchen and dining area. There is a door to the back porch and a couple windows on the back wall that can move around a bit if need be. I want the sink in an island facing into the rest of the space (it is open concept and the living room is RIGHT THERE), so I can socialize and am not spending half my life looking out the window. The name of the game is to maximize function. I do cook and can, as well as bake. I have friends and family over fairly regularly, though not weekly. I will have additional storage for overflow, and I can commandeer a nearby coat closet for pantry space if I need to. The style is Shaker/Craftsman. Wood finishes. We are on a semi-custom type budget. I already have a stainless fridge that is 3' wide. I am really struggling with placement of appliances and cabinets at this point. Any ideas or references?
