Floor ideas?

Suggestions for floor color and materials? We can't afford real tile. Thanks for your advice!

Look into laminate. I have lot of knotty pine trim and doors, and will be putting in white oak hardwood flooring as it has a brownish hue to it rather than the red/orange of red oak. You should be able to find something similar in laminate.

My in-law had a wood grain laminate installed with a white undertone that was very attractive.

HI -- Look into Fiber Floor or Marmolium or Cork or vinyl plank .Maybe a slight brown and white or black and white texture look . What are you doing with all the knotty pine cabinets and the wainscoting . That will determine what color and so on.

Thank you! I should have mentioned- the living room, which is adjacent and can't be seen in these pics, has real hard wood floors. I am worried that the faux wood will not look right next to it. We are not planning to paint the cupboards. Thanks again! I went to lowes and was disappointed with the selection. Will keep looking around!

Anne, that looks great! Do you think that color would work with my knotty pine?

I do, you could check the Mannington website to look at all the products they offer--and no, I do not work for them ; ). The color I chose, Mountain Mist, has a combo of both grey and honey gold tones. I have honey oak cabinets but didn't want to be locked into more gold tones.

HI -- Great choice . You could check any tile shops and look in their discount room or go to a discount tile shop . Great bargains can be found and you could possibly still have a real tile floor if you want . Fiber floor also has great choices , even the slate one looks very nice and would go with your wood details and your hardwood floors.

I have a basement with a good history of no water, backup sump pump etc. However to be safe is there any flooring that would be ok if exposed to water?

HI -- @ bgoz --- It would be less confusing if you presented your question on your own thread ... Thanks

Look at cork before you settle for the mannington vinyl . . it works terrific adjacent to wood and functions like a dream.

Second Marmoleum. Definitely not more wood.

A cork floating floor can be installed right over the old lino. You can choose a number of different looks (natural colours through to white, black, blue, gray, etc). Because cork is more of a 'burl' look than a linear "wood grain" look it often works very well with natural hardwoods.
