Would this modern chandelier work here?

I am trying to modernize my 90's home into a lighter and less "lodge" feel, with its tan walls and honey trim. I'm thinking of this chandelier, which I love, though it may seem really unusual with the rest of our house right now! We are going to be painting walls and trim to lighten up (white trim) and looking for opinions on this modern lighting in our eclectic and open floor plan! Below is the pic of the room (excuse our laundry on the table!).

It's a pretty chandelier and I think it would look nice. However, the tray ceiling above your dining table is an outstanding feature in the room and emphasizing it with a chandelier is also an important consideration.

The charcoal finish on the metal in the top left photo draws on your black dining table. The gold underside draws on the honey wood tones in the flooring, trim and door, while the shape compliments the tray ceiling.

The black metal frame in the top right photo compliments your dining table, while the crystal adds a touch of elegant sparkle to draw the eye upward to the tray ceiling.

The black metal in the bottom left photo compliments your dining table, while the octagonal shape compliments the tray ceiling.

The smoke glass in the bottom right photo compliments your dining table with its black tones, compliments the honey finish of the wood with it's golden tones, plus adds modern elegance that brings the eye upward to the tray ceiling.

If you love it, then definitely go for it! We have the same trim color, and we are also painting ours white.

I had a gold colonial chandelier from 1980 that really looked its age. I covered anything I didn't want painted. Hung it from a nail in the basement and gave it a spin. Spray painted it silver. Added shades and poof! Welcome to the updated dining room. Goes well with my white and griege room.

Sounds like some mixed reviews? Any other better thoughts? I'm looking for something that isn't too heavy feeling, interesting to the eye but not too crazy. We have more classic and clean-lined style than ornate or fussy. Think pottery barn, west elm, etc. I also like the idea of the metal orb pendants...thoughts?

We're not getting a true idea of your style due to the clutter in the pix. Can you shoot with the furniture cleared, showing us other areas of the space so we can find a direction to go?

Thank you for these ideas! I know the picture isn't great, as I was packing for a trip and it was cluttered :)

The table is a dark brown rustic/industrial one from PB, with rod iron underneath. We bought it before this house and it feels a bit clunky now, which is one reason I'd want to balance it with "lighter" colors, chandelier and different chairs (which I would also love suggestions on).

Thos Bros: The first chandelier you attached is really cool (I liked all) - who makes it, etc? If we go with white trim, would you still suggest this?

I like the chandelier you chose, thought I am not sure if it will provide the needed light; those fixtures are more about atmosphere.

You might consider an alabaster pendant, or a much less expensive version made of frosted glass. A very spare, Venetian chandelier in the more Deco style would work too. These can be surprisingly affordable, considering the workmanship. They are also available in an array of colours, from clear to almost neon, as well as neutrals, like soft amber and smoke grey. One can order the pendants from Lamps Plus, and the Venetians direct from the Murano glass factories of Venice - they have perfected the shipping. The Venetians have to be assembled on site.

I think this chandelier would work fine with the color theme and style in your den. You can also lighten up your dining area with light gray or pastel yellow Parsons style dining chairs. I think the yellow would look especially nice with the chandelier, as well as the color scheme in your den. And yes, if you go with white trim, it will also work. The cool tones in the gunmetal gray finish can definitely accommodate white.

I loved the Hubbardton Forge Corona Chandelier mentioned above and wanted to put it in my dining room. Unfortunately, one size was too big and another size too small. I ended up getting the Hubbardton Forge Cirque chandelier with eight lights and I love it. Check it out. Would attach photo if I could.
