I think I would switch the clock to over the sofa and picture over the table. Find a new home for the sconces. You need to find something for the coffee table so it isn`t so naked.

Could you post other three walls? Does sofa w/ square art face a tv? I like the coffee table great find!

buy a large canvas and some paint....and enjoy making a painting together with your loved ones. Do not use bruches, but cloth and rolers so you have to work BIG.

HI -- Great buy on the coffee table . Maybe add two small ottomans /poufs beside to make the table look a little bigger . I think a wider modern painting would work ,somewhat in the style of that one , but one that you will like better --- lots to choose from . Find another place for the two sconces . The big metal clock is fine where it is . Right now there is just too much wrought iron showing with the legs on the coffee table and the clock and the sconces.

My coffee table is bare because I have 3 kiddos and well i haven't found that special piece. Yes, the art faces the TV. let me take a pic of the other side

@lefty47 Yes. i agree. the art piece was too narrow for the sofa (needs a rectangle piece) so I added the sconces..which make it too much wrought iron lol

I'd take down the sconces and just let the art piece stand out. The sconces detract from it. Eventually add a couple of art pieces as time and $$ allows. Don't paint the coffee table!

I would add a light cream mat, instead of textured. Remove sconces. Polish the table to a walnut brown. I like the clock, would leave it there. Remove painting, and add a nice rectangular mirror into which light will reflect. Add a nice small glass bowl or candy bowl on the table and if possible even a nice small terrarium next to it. Change the cushions to same color as the mat you may want to buy. Like a cream with small block print in white or something subtle.

On the other hand, the reason your room is looking dark is because the light source is on the other side and not falling on the sofa or your set up. You might want to play around with the direction of your furniture and with mirrors to catch light and spread it in the room.

You seem to have quite a bit of natural light, so I say yes to some mirrors, but please no more square things. The blue pillows are really nice, could you add some more things that color? Also, no more brown. The floor seems to be absorbing a lot of light. Is there room for a lighter area rug in the budget?

Agree on sconces. Take them down. Add some light blue draperies to the windows to match the blue in the art and get some matching pillows. Lose the rug and buy a sea grass may/rug. That would be lovely!

I took these pics at 8am so it wasn't light out. i do get a lot of natural lighting and the rug is a light textured cream. its def the pic that makes it look dark. thanks for the advice everyone!!

You need to open up your seating area a bit. As it is now, the room is heavily weighted toward the side where the furniture is. Bring the chairs out to the corners of the rug, and angle slightly toward the sofa, but not so much you can't watch TV comfortably. Then find art which is brighter and bolder in color--the art is too dark and drab.

Hi design dilemma
Placing a variety of mirrors in different sizes and shapes will add visual interest to the sofa wall.
Flanking the coffee table with 2 small round ottomans or poufs will extend the length equal to the sofa

I like the picture above the couch but would remove the sconces. Pull the chair and a half away from the wall and turn it, on a slight angle, toward the tv. Put the leather chair, on a slight angle, toward the tv also for better tv viewing. Add drape panels on the windows in blue or tan. I like the coffee table as is. Beautiful wood floors, nice furniture and room!

HI - Marcnlisy -- You do not need to paint the coffee table . Just want to remind you ,after seeing other photos of your room ---- you do not need to hang something on every bit of wall space . The eye needs places to rest . Did you have plans to get drapes --- that would help the room look finished .

I think a mirror over the sofa would look nice.
