The three planters without the runner would look better. If you're worried about moisture, cut a sheet of cork to fit under them.

Last two comments interesting. Why would it look better w/o the runner? I just bought the runner (not that it can't be returned) because I thought it would pull things together. Think it's more "urban" w/o the runner or are you not a fan of runners? Thanks so much!!!!

It's jute - if you couldn't see it clearly. I like "natural" looking things although I'm not dismissing adivra's comment. Perhaps I like "urban" to a certain point - I like the clean lines but also like warmth. Thank you again!!! So generous of you to share your expertise with me. Really appreciate it! It's so frustrating for those of us who haven't studied design to sometimes make even the simplest decisions! Have a wonderful day!

I've received so many terrific tips on Houzz. For instance, one of you lovely people suggested linear lighting over my dining room table - Pottery Barn had just the right one for me! I had a mirror where the painting is behind the chair and was told: Get rid of the mirror! lol. So happy I selected the painting instead. So, again, THANK YOU! (Yes, we'll be changing flooring!).
