Furniture placement?

Looks pretty good! Adjust the rug and pull in the sofas so that their front feet are well on the rug at least 8 inches. Adjust the coffee table so it's 18" from the sofa facing the tv. Pull the large leather chair and ottoman away from the corner and into the room more. Two to three sofa pillows in colors from your happy rug (orange, yellow, lime green) will liven up the room. Looks like your drapery panels are yellow (on my monitor) so sprinkle some more of that color in your room. Looks comfy and welcoming!

You have a beautiful home and living room! From my initial look, I see a couple of things that could be done:

1. Soften room colors. Room is cluttered with too many colors & patterns that fight eachother. This is via pillows, couch throws, yellow window panels, and the patterns / colors in area rug.

A. Change window panels to a more neutral shade. See the sample photo below of a shade that would compliment your room nicely. Bedbathbeyond.com

B. Change pillows & area rug to include pops of color that will compliment your window panels , not contradict eachother. See sample photos below for an idea of what I mean. Bedbathbeyond.com & Hayneedle.com

C. Purchase throws in one solid color that you like, similar to a pillow color.

D. Purchase a TALLER artificial tree for the corner. The one you have now gets hidden behind the book shelves.

2. Move your sofas out about 1 - 2 feet toward the walls and give your living room the space it deserves. You've crunched it up a bit too tight. You should still have plenty of walking space to come in the front door and get to the kitchen!

I'll take a closer look after breakfast, but my initial impression was that it looked cluttered. You have a lot of pattern and color going on. All the pieces are in place, but I think a bit of streamlining might be in order and is probably all you need.

For example, I love the rug, but I think plain instead of patterned pillows might work better with it.

I think the yellow drapes look nice with your rug. Agree about moving sofas and chair in closer. A yellow pillow or two for the sofa or chair. End tables and coffee table are very match-y. Might consider a different coffee table.

Several issues I see. The fireplace just stops dead in mid-air rather than the stone going to the ceiling. The white bookcases seem a bit incongruous as free standing add-ons. You could try to make them appear more built-in, but they are just too "frail" compared to the massive FP. Darker paint might help but if you redo the FP, you might just have appropriate ones built-in. Meanwhile, style the shelves with 1/3 books, 1/3 large decor items and 1/3 open space. Drapes are a tad too short and should kiss the floor. Lined ones will look and hang better. Consider natural linen ones instead of the yellow. Slip the front 1/3 of the sofas onto the rug and put the coffee table 18" from the sofa that is opposite the fireplace. Pull the chair and footstool closer to the conversational group and give it a floor lamp or a table and table lamp. The matched set of tables and their slender scale may be a problem, and the end tables are too low for the sofas. Here's a chart to help with that if you decide to replace them. Toss or drape the throws in a more casual way or fold them over an arm or folded and tucked in for a more updated look. Bring the rug colors up with pillows. Your pillows seem a bit random and lifeless compared to the rug. They need to assist with sprinkling those colors around the space.

Odd fireplace, why isn't it continuing up to the ceiling? I agree that furniture needs to be pulled in closer to the rug, specifically the lounge and ottoman. I think the plant is fine but the chair is blocking it.

I think a chick mirror and console can complete the decor.
