Roller shades give a minimal look usually.

I agree with groveraxle, I don't think you NEED anything on the window and would leave it bare if you can. If you really want something to block out the light, I would go with a roller shade like this or this (in a lighter more modern color, similar to what the blog housetweaking has in her home)

If you really NEED a window treatment then opt for a bamboo blind or roman shade mounted right at the ceiling. When it is up you will have an unconstructed view. Naked dish washing anyone? LOL.

It's not for function but rather decor. I like how fabric can soften a space. Here is an idea I had, the cornice only. Bad idea?

Please don't cover those windows if it's not necessary - they r stunning!

Jen cons, Your kitchen looks beautiful. I love your cupboard and counter choice. Your view out the window actually reminds of our cottage minus the beautiful cupboards, larger windows and counter space. I agree with Gray & Walter.

Why mess with perfection. The valance would only cover the beautiful windows. And your view outside is wonderful. You don't need a thing unless you are concerned with privacy.

The windows are beautiful but I can understand you wanting just a little something to dress them up. A custom cornice board or window valance in a more contemporary fabric would look beautiful. Hang them as high as possible so that they only cover the window trim and not the view.

Roller Shades is a great suggestion. You could always check out Honeycomb Shades in a larger pleat size like 1.5''. The nice thing about the honeycombs is that the stack is very small on them when they're up in the window. Search for your local Hunter Douglas Dealer and visit a showroom. Tons of different options out there.

That cornice board is going to gorp up a beautiful modern space. Give me a few minutes to install it so you can see.

I think what grover just showed you emphasizes how the color under the cabinets NEEDS to be continued over the windows to balance it. I have to vote for leaving them even though I understand wanting some softness in the room.
