    The grassy plants are commonly called Lily Turf, MonkeyGrass, or, more accurately, Liriope. (botanical name is Liriope muscari 'Big Blue') We pronounce it 'Luh-RYE-uh-pee.'

    Be careful when selecting Liriope. The variety 'Big Blue' mentioned above will not stay in "clump" form and will spread out all over your bed via underground runners. It's a great plant but not for edging like what is pictured here. The best ones for edging in my experience are 'Densiflora' , 'John Burch' and my favorite 'Royal Purple'.
