could you tell me if the wall to the left is concrete or wood and if wood what kind?

The wall on the left is concrete. The forming technique is called board form. Using a series of wood boards in the forming process allows the wood grain and the widths of the boards to be imprinted into the concrete. Originally this was an early way to form walls. It has become an architectural finish to concrete walls.

ARDEX SD-M™, a single component system made of polymer and cementitious powders. This was applied over radiant heated concrete.

It looks like it is a cast in place concrete wall. You can get that look by using our custom concrete board form tiles. They come in 6" x 8' lengths and when installed (easy installation) they give the look of a cast in place piece like this wall. Check out www.2stone.ca and our Facebook page 2Stone Designer Concrete, we have posted some pictures of some fireplaces we have done. I love this wall and the detail of the rocks at the bottom! Very peaceful and organic.

This wall was poured in place using a technique called board form. It allows the imprint from individual boards to displayed in the finish, giving an organic looking finish.
The disadvantage with the concrete board tiles would be in the seams, as if they are placed poorly, it would be quite noticeable.

How thick is this wall, how heavy? Is the basement reinforced for this application?

It is 8 inches thick, and is a structural wall that is part of the foundation and goes up 3 stories through all levels of the home.

This project is a wood framed home, with just that center wall concrete from foundation to top floor.

I love the normal white walls and the minimal skirting boards that are flush. I have been looking everywhere for a minimal but practical skirting board.
Can you please give details on the skirting boards?.
