Navy blue

Teal blue green ,or yellow

Navy sounds nice...or maybe slate blue or black. Check out Ben Moore's Hale Navy or Black Iron. Some planted urns would look nice in front of the side lights or next to the pillars where the small pots are now.

High gloss teal would be fab with the grey colors and that green lawn! Or check out "after the storm" by Benjamin Moore. It's mysterious and rich blue green, if the teal is too scary for you.

Besides changing the door color as suggested above, add some dark pink or red flowers to your landscape to brighten things up. Pretty home!

What about a colour for the window & roof trim...it should be something different from the door colour right?
@springcath: I had wondered why the past owners had used white flowers, They are all perennials, except for the petunias, so I can move them elsewhere. Pops of colour would be pretty.

So nice to have perennials. Not sure I would move them, just add some taller ones behind them in a bright color. And maybe a large pot of flowers on the porch. A larger porch light would look good too. Enjoy your new home!

The teal shades sound good, what colour trim & garage doors etc?

Use a rosy claret wine for the front door and add several plants in the yard that are mulberry purple such as a japanese cherry tree or hot pink to rose azaleas. Reds are considered "warm" colors whereas treys, whites, etc are cool colors. They play off each other and make each pop. Although teal would be attractive, it also is considered a cool color so it is not as warm and inviting as the magenta, rose, burgundy, claret - any of those shades would look great. Do lighting and accessories (mailbox, door knocker) black

Still need some ideas for trim paint..or should those areas stay white?

I think white keeps it crisp and neat. But since your garage door is around the side of the house and won't distract from your front door, why not go wild and paint it claret too? Its just paint and I think you would smile every time you come home!. Don't forget the flowers in some concrete planters at your front door.

As I look at the close up of the front of your house, I see the problem. There needs to be tall plantings on either side of each of the bay windows. Spiral junipers would be nice - something to fill in that expanse of flat brick. Concentrate the colored flowers under the windows. Also when you paint your door, paint both side panels the same color. If you can lose the storm door do so. I understand how useful they are when you leave the door open for light, but if possible it will make everything more high end. Remember - over scale accessories. Make the pots on either side of the door bigger than you think they should be and also think about adding claret shutters to either side of the 2 narrow windows on the left end of the house.

I like the red door suggestion. Here is a visual of how it could look.

Don't think it would look good on garage door though, even though it's on the side driveway is where guests would park as sidewalk is there. You could add red there with some urns on sides of garage doors. Either red urns or with red flowers. I also think two window boxes on the windows on side of garage would be nice, better than those two shrubs that are there. Window boxes can be decorated at Xmas too. You could also plant some flowers around driveway light to bring some colour out there.

Many good suggestions!! You are all so helpful, Now to make final colour decisions. How to choose :) First stop paint samples in all of the colours mentioned. Other suggestions still welcome, Roof trim etc.

I vote for a muted teal/ turquoise... Consider bm Dartmouth green.

The Revere Pewter might look good as the trim for the roof trim, windows, and I was thinking about painting the run off pipe one of the shades of grey to make it blend in.

You can paint out the downspout if you wish, but long term adherence is sometimes a problem. Especially in a climate with a big swing in temperatures, the paint will peel and you have MILES of gutter to hand paint. I still stand for white trim - it looks fresh and if you leave your gutters white, your eye just won't pick them up. However, if you want the downspout gone - two ideas: 1) plant creeping fig and let it grow up the corner of the house and cover the downspout which it will do in about 2 years. 2) take the downspout out and replace with a copper rain chain and some rocks and pebbles underneath it and the rain will dissipate throughout the garden and nothing will wash away.

I'm able to visualize the suggestions made and can see what I need to do & where to start.
We won't be able to get it all done this fall, but will post when we do or if other problems or questions come up.

My front door is the light teal that libratravel posted. Love it! I have a straw mat on the porch with shades of teal, yellow, and rust that really pops with the door.

Be sure to post when you get your color samples up and don't discard the shutter idea - it will pull your color across the house.

Front doors is always use dark color like brown, dark brown or dark blue is looking different. many people are use light color front doors but my opinion is light color doors use in interior because of less consume energy. Go for it want to more Oak External Doors
