Lattice advise

The husband and I are redoing and painting our deck. The current lattice is so unattractive and seems old. I'm considering replacing it or painting it. I need suggestions for best stain colors or if I should paint it white!? We are panting the deck with Behr's DeckOver in Chocolate.

Please Help!

I would put the lattice in a frame and change the lattice to square and smaller slats like 2x2 it will make the deck stand out more and give better appearance.

Please do not paint it white! It needs to be stained same color as deck. It looks to be in good enough shape to just power wash it and stain it when you stain deck.

If you used the same dark brown colour on the lattice it might disguise the fact that it is lattice. As it's a light colour the dark spaces are obvious but if it was a dark colour the lattice wouldn't stand out. Try painting it first it's the cheaper option.

Match the lattice to the deck color but trim it to fit properly at the stairs.

The dark lattice looks good with dark deck, but I replaced all of mine with solid walls to keep vermin down.
