MDF kitchen cabinets - help!

I'm refacing my cabients with MDF cabinets and I need to know what type of paint to put on them to make them look real and not "plasticy" and fake. Do I use a dull or flat sheen or Satin? I read oil based is the best? Is there a certain brand I should get?

Are you looking to paint your old MDF cabinets? Are they in decent shape? Can you attach photos? Is the finish a "foil" or is a wood that is laminated to the MDF?

I'm replacing existing doors with mdf doors. They are not "foil." Please advise...

What do they look like? A picture would be good.

What type of equipment -- sprayers etc will you be using?

How much experience do you have with finishing?

And how do you define "plasticy" and fake? MDF has no grain so it will not look like wood.
