Not at all. The only "rule" I have about coffee table heights is that they not ever be the same as the sofa. Higher is often quite nice, unexpected and useful. I often use a soffee table that is 24"high, and it doubles as an impromptu eating surface for a cocktail party, or a child's coloring or game table in a less-formal, family-friendly room.

I have a 42" x 42" walnut coffee table that is called "tea height" which is 24" high it's a great height. unfortunately I have not replaced the end tables which are sitting at 19" so it looks a bit weird having them so low with the coffee table high.

Yes, I would definitely get some higher endtables stat! This will bring the lamps up higher as well, and create a nice composition with the artwork on the wall. 26" to 28" is a common hieght for end / lamp tables. Maybe round just to break things up a bit?

Here's a basement family room we did a year or so ago with 28" lamp tables with a lower shelf for additional storage.

Yes, my end tables are an embarassment, they will be round, one glass the other wood. I have also changed the lamps to taller lamps for the moment. I love my high coffee table, no stooping down to pick anything up.
