Do you use the bench frequently? Is there room to stand it in the closet when not in use?

Removing the bookcase gives you room to slide the bench down towards the closet and to slide the chair/sidetable down and away from the desk.

    Gym?

Room is too small to be a gym and office - pick one!

Why does the desk have to stay where it is? Do you need a TV tray/cocktail table with the recliner? What's in the closet? full of storage? I'd set up a desk in the closet and get an area rug for the floor space/gym use.

Take a photo from the bench wall looking straight at the desk.

Without a lot of thought, I would ditch the shelf unit and group the family photo on the wall gallery style.

The room has too many decor items. Remove the shelf and hang the pictures on a wall in a different room. Hallways are nice places for a group of small pictures. If you really want them in this room, hang them grouped on a wall and maybe one other picture. Frame colour doesn't matter.

Take photos of all the walls, and let us know the size of the room.

    How is this room used?

What is the table with the purple pad on it? Can the pad be covered with something that is a quieter colour, maybe matching the blue throw on the chair?

Add a rug that goes with the blue throw.

I can't tell what is to the left of the chair in the first photo. Looks like AI?

I like the idea of removing the closet doors and putting the desk in there.

What is the bench ? I see no gym equipment so please explain. The desk is I assume there becuase you want to look out the window. Is this a working office or a home office ? Why does the bench need to be out all the time ? INFO please and a picture of the whole space including that window corner. What is that on the wall behind the bench? The recliner seems an after thought and all the family pics are a bit much in an office but I need info.

Remove everything other than the desk to create a blank slate, as the room is small and you’ll need to compromise:

    - Is the desk’s l-section needed?

    - Do you need an occasional chair and if so, suggest a less bulky style.

    - Your gym reference..what will be included?

    - The closet is large so take advantage to store things away, so room doesn’t feel cluttered.

Design wise:Will you be painting, what’s your style, will you be adding new lighting, window treatment? Suggest adding some fun art.

Don’t know your taste/needs, but wanted to show that an office/gym can be combined nicely (suggest going lighter though).

Removing closet doors, and storing them somewhere in case you move, is a big project. In the meantime, organize your closet to make it as functional as possible. Have fun choosing a new rug, some interesting art. Do a search for: "bulletin board art wall" for ideas on the back wall, but make sure to keep it attractive. Wayfair carries some very large bulletin boards that could accommodate office related calendars and such in addition to art.

Those look like bifold closet doors that run on an upper track. If so, they are easy to remove. They can be folded and stored on the inside of the closet if there is no other place for them. Folded up, they wouldn't take up more than 8" of space. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4NvcnUUU_Y

I would keep the desk where it is and simplify around it: remove the bookcase, use the closet for storage, add one larger flat-weave rug, and hang one larger piece of art instead of several small items. A black frame for the 40x30 print could help tie the wall to the desk and TV area.
