Downdraft option with island cooktop & wall oven directly under?

I see you have a wall oven directly under your cooktop on the island. I do not see a lot of space behind the cooktop. I do not see a hood for venting so assume you have a downdraft? Did you reverse the downdraft motor and if so, I wanted to find out/verify that you had enough room to the back of the units. We are struggling with this design piece on our island.

Hello, thank you for your inquiry. There is 5" of space behind the cooktop for the body of the downdraft, but the main unit sits below in the basement and is run out of the house through the floor joists.

What appliances did you use to make the wall oven/cooktop/downdraft work? We're having a hell of a time finding three that will work together with this type of install .

I am working on this set-up for my kitchen too, but not in an island, as part of a base cabinet run . . . We would like to use a downdraft (we have limitations above), and induction cooktop and a built in oven. Would love to know how deep of a box you have for all these components on the island. Thanks.

It really depends on where the blower for the downdraft is located. If it is an external blower, like this one is, and can be underneath, you could probably get away with 27-30"d. If it is not, you will need at least 36"d. One disadvantage to this set-up is that your cook surface is usually pushed back a few inches due to how the oven is built. I would strongly recommend talking to an appliance expert, as they will be able to recommend brands that work best together.
