Quick & Easy Cabinet Update

I recently just purchased my first home. It was all a rather quick process and I don't have the time or finances to due a full kitchen overhaul at the moment. I do love the countertops for some reason, I know most don't like tile, but I like the retro vibe.

I'm looking for a good way to easily update these cabinets with paint, as well as an overall color scheme for the kitchen. The wall behind the stove is covered in 3/4's yellow tile and the kitchen is currently painted yellow as well. I was thinking white for the cabinets, but not sure for the walls? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, I just want to breath some fresh life into it.

I think white cabinets will really freshen and update the kitchen. Be sure to remove the wallpaper and foo-foo curtains. I'd remove the scalloped piece of trim above the sink, too.

All decorations and appliances are from the previous owners, so I will have a totally blank slate.

Blue and yellow with white can make a cheerful and lovely kitchen, as in this photo where they contined the blue on the ceiling and used two shades of yellow. I can't see enough of your room to see if this would work for you, but I don't think you should add another colour into room, but just lighter or darker of the blue and yellow that's already there.

That's kind of what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure if that would be too much do the same. Here is another photo of the rest of the room if this helps. (Again this is from the previous owners so none of the furniture or decorations will be there)

Are the counter tops a sage green? it s hard to tell from the picture but if they are then I would pick a green that ties in with the counter top color...maybe slightly brighter to keep the kitchen in that "retro feel" the cabinets could be done in a very light creamy yellow that will help connect with the yellow tile...or a soft white like Benjamin Moore Acadia White...

I think you will see a big difference if you paint the cabinets white. Right now you are seeing ivory cabinets and yellow walls, so not much contrast. I think painting walls a little lighter yellow than the tile, and then bringing in some of the blue in window covering would be really nice. Some roman blinds would be lovely on your windows.

The countertops are a sky blue and then they have yellow underneath which also matches the yellow tile backsplash.
