Right now, the island area is too heavy and dark compared to the rest of the space (especially since your floors are dark). I think you have a few options:

- a light gray (lighter than your walls but darker than your cabinets)
- a light blue, either saturated for a brighter pop or more in the blue-gray family to tone it down
- even a highly saturated pop of color (turquoise, yellow, orange) just depends on your taste

If you were to change your bar stools and get a brighter fresher fabric (lighter finish on legs or metal), you could potentially do a darker color. A high gloss black would look phenomenal depending on your bar stools.
