There are no rules for entryway lighting per se. You just need to make sure the scale is adequate for the space, also you should think about how much light you are looking for the space to have if your entryway is dark for example I would suggest something with maybe a few more lightbulbs. And finally I think the most important thing is that remember that the entryway light you chose will set a statement as to what is to come in other areas of the home, make sure that the new light is consistent to the other lights in your house. You can achieve this by matching either the style or finish to your other light fixtures and you'll be set. I hope I helped and keep us posted in how your lighting search ends.

That's a pretty light.

Very pretty light. How much wattage per bulb plus install
a dimmer.

I feel like the light goes with the rest of the style of the house but the only thing I worry about is the black part of it - none of our fixtures have black on them. Our hallway is super long and gets only evening sun but I think this light will add more light than what we currently have (frosted glass pendant). I really like that rustic look without being too rustic so if y'all have anything other suggestions let me know! I don't really want to spend more than $600 though - trying to stick to a budget :-/
