I totally agree, the candleholders are not as contemporary and fun as the lights and your chairs. How about a large print, painting or wall sculpture, wider than it is long, so it won't be lower than the tops of your chairs, and a rug under the table?

Unless people keep their shoes on sisal is not nice on the feet, Art for sure on the wall and i love drapery in a dining room to warm it up and i agree with the bowl and how about a narrow table under the art on that bare wall this is from ikea called Besta and comes in different finishes and can also be wall hung even with glass door. Can't tell the color of your walls but faux silk drapes in the same color as the walls is very elegant and you could use gold tie backs if that it gold in the chair covers.
