agree with margo, try to find a different place for that beautiful rug elsewhere. A oversized solid rug in a color from your accent chair would go nicely.

If I considered big box store clocks to be decor, that one would need to be in a large two story space. Get a rectangular rug that is 18-24 inches wider than your sofa that will easily fit under the first 1/3 of the sofa. Go for texture like wool sisal-look or a flat weave. The chair has all the floral you need.

The only pattern that will work with that chair might be one that's big and bold. Still, a solid one will probably work best.

You MIGHT make the clock work if you hang it centered left to right between window and chest, and centered between ceiling and floor.

Wow, thank you so much for these visuals! I love the first one! I see what you mean about the clock placement. It was quite expensive (Herman Miller) and it is a rustic metal, and my husband really likes it. For all of these reasons I'm relieved to see the improvement that simply lowering it makes. :-)

I do think the clock will look a lot better if lowered and moved to the left. I wouldn't quite center it between the floor and ceiling but I would hang it so the top of it is a few inches below the top of the window frame to the left of the clock. Please don't hang it so the top of it is even with the top of that window frame.

I think the clock looks nice! It's just you have a small chair near it and, yes, that rug is much to small. Your furniture should sit just outside the rug or on it.

The bitty lamps and stuff in the wood piece are out of proportion with the clock.

Try anchoring the space with a standing lamp and a side table with a good sized table lamp and put the little ones on the wood piece away
