You could paint the frames red or add a red mat to them. I see there is sort of a brick red in the art. I would also suggest painting the vent the same color as the wall.

Kitchen: note that in your idea book, the kitchens have no items above the cabinets. I assume you like that look if it is in your idea book.

IMO, you have too many items lined up above your cabinets. So, the eye actually sees none of them. I would limit it to maybe 3 large vases in the tall corner.

You will find cleaning easier also.

Thank you for your suggestions. I'll play around with your suggestion about on top of my cabinets. I don't think I have anything in my ideabook about on top of cabinets, but am always open to ideas for them. It provides a bit of extra 'storage' for baskets, etc, that I use occasionally for various hosting events. We have high ceilings so I felt like those areas needed 'something' for visual attractiveness and to fill the space. Do you suggest, when grouping these objects, to remain in the same color or do a variety with my 'collection'? Thank you again!

For long-term, you could add custom shelving or cabinets above.

For now, I would suggest 3 tall vases along the back wall, tallest to left, then next tallest, then smallest., echoing ceiling angle.

If you want a more updated look, baskets and a lot of things above the cabinets are not in style right now.

You don't have to follow that trend. Just letting you know.

What I was saying was that you have a kitchen photo in your idea book and it has almost nothing on the top of the cabinets.

I agree that these cathedral ceilings can be very challenging. I love a challenging space because it spells an opportunity for creativity!

The art is nice but hung too high for a dining space lower it a few inches as for color I would choose a color from the painting and paint that wall with it and take the stuff off the shelf above it just takes away from the art and while you are at it take all the stuff of the top of the cabinets you have a very nice kitchen don't clutter it up.

I cannot tell the height of the art, but the center should be 54-60" above the floor. I would move the 2 pieces closer together.

Again, I agree with Patricia, the stuff above is just cluttering.

I am not sure what is going on with the center piece, but it looks like it could use some help also.

Definitely I'm open to change, and appreciate your comments. I was so inspired I took everything down above the cabinets, and measured the height of the pictures. I'm about 4 inches from 60" as the center, so even a small change, along with bringing them together a bit more, can make an impact that will help the wall and room. The more ideas you have for me, I'm happy to have them (ie centerpiece, suggestions on what should go in the alcove above paintings, etc). Above the kitchen cabinets, at this point, is VERY empty, but could also be that I'm very used to having it full of stuff...my ideasbook had your picture due to us deciding on countertop colors; hence I wasn't sure what picture you were looking at earlier. I'm hearing less is more, however...

Above kitchen cabinets:

Normally, I would say nothing goes there. But, I agree with the angle, it seems like something should be there.

My thought is that the easiest would be to hang something on the wall. Less clutter and not constant dusting. Square will not work.

Option 1

So, how about several round objects. If you have some round, flat baskets, you could hang them more oriented toward the corner. If you like this idea, I would recommend drawing it on graph paper first to plan where they would go.

Option 2

Urns, vases. They need to be large. I see you have one tall red vase. The others appear too small. Do you have any other large vases? They could be spray painted.

Kitchen Table: It looks like you use that a lot, so I would keep it simple. Maybe for right now, do you have a flower garden where you could put a simple vase of flowers. In the fall, one large pumpkin. Keep it simple.

Thanks for all your help! I added a runner with a dominant red for the table and a candle and holder on the table. I have many flowers outside and will do that as we have guests and activity in our kitchen with others.
