After spending countless hours trying to settle on a style for the kitchen in our new construction house, I realize that I want to use one of my favorite aspects of my Pacific Northwest roots into my desert New Mexico life -- the warm, cozy feeling of coffee houses! Unfortunately, I've been having little luck finding inspiration on websites, with the exception of incorporating a coffee bar. Our kitchen will have windows on two of the three sides to show the high desert mountain views, so the only upper cabinets will be on the wall that also holds the fridge, wall oven, and pantry. I'll have a good-sized island and will also put our 6x4 dining table in there so that I can use small attached dining area for comfy chairs to enhance coffeehouse feel (kitchen dimensions are 18' x 16'). I'm more inclined toward contemporary/transitional style vs. country/rustic. This is as far as I've been able to get and am now at a loss. This is the first time I've posted but have been finding wonderful ideas here for my new house, so all suggestions will be welcome!
