Hi gina1897, I agree with a different color for the front door to give the house some focus. The shutters can be darker to balance the roof color, and not sure if you could paint the gable posts in the entrance to give it more substance.

Agree the shutters should be darker, but Dytecture's photo of the darker color around the front sort of made that aspect disappear againt that brick. And definitely a colored door!

If you want curb appeal, I recommend you put your time and money into landscaping. Your house is very nice and changing the front door and shutter colors won't make a discernible difference.

I agree with the landscaping idea. House is beautiful. Just need more nature to blend the house into the yard.

Maybe the color of the frames on the windows on the brick section can be toned down - they show up to much. Maybe the door frame also. Just a little less white or the same color as the shutters might work.

Beautiful home. Paint the shutters darker version of what you have them painted. Paint the door the same as the shutters. Landscaping and you are done.

I really love the clean look of the white. I would add white, like in place of the cream color. But I must confess, white is my favorite color. Beautiful home either way though.

I wouldn't change the color of anything. If you start messing around it will start to look tacky. Landscaping is the only problem you have.

You have a beautiful home, however it really dose need some landscape to enhance it's beauty, but keep it simple you don't want to take away from the look of your house. I would also consider painting out the shutters to a deeper color to match the brick and roof, and you can't go wrong with a great door color just make sure it complements the stone on the front of your home, it will give you a more welcoming feeling. I would also leave the gable post the way they are, keep the focus on the door and landscaping. Good luck on your project, can't wait to see after pictures..

I say go classic. Black shutters, red door, white base and gable.
Landscape is super important to complete the look. Find a landscape consultant to help you choose the right plants.

I think the house looks great as is. Focus on the landscaping. Make sure that the landscape architect uses a variety of colors in the shrubs in addition to dark green, use yellow green and red. Add some hardwood trees that will take a couple of decades to mature, but will be a good investment over the long term and add some ornamental trees for seasonal color.

I prefer the classic.

For the classic color palette suggested above consider Country Redwood for the front door and Black Jack 2133-20 for the shutters. Both colors are by Benjamin Moore. I like the suggestion of classic colors, landscape will also help. Good luck with your project. Charmean Neithart

I agree with adding landscaping, painting the shutters darker and blend with roof, and add that a wood door would be beautiful.

I always have a problem visually when I see shutters that don't fit the size of the windows. The shutters need to be larger on some of the windows, it is off balance. Of course they are purely decorative, but they should have the proper size to the windows.

I think a rich chocolate brown or deep merlot red for shutters and door would look crisp and pull out some of the darker undertones from the beautiful stone work. Then you can pop bright colors through florals in the landscaping mentioned above. Looks like a great house though!... (and please don't paint the gable posts as suggested, it erases a great contrast).

Black shutters black door and some landscaping will really help to make a complete transformation!!! I just completed a similar project!!! Total transformation for my home!!! Add some shutter dogs!!!!

I would suggest an almost black for the shutters and use it again on the window frames set into the stone. Hold the fan deck you will use up to the stone, and find a color that is darker than the darkest in the stone, and it will emphasize the stone and unify the whole structure. Use a deep red for the door-not too winey tho, leaving the rest of the entry alone. do not paint the door and shutters the same.

i very much like Alisa Smiths idea.... almost black on the shutters and definitely the window trim with a deep red for the door . NICE!!! CEIL

By all means do not paint the gable posts, however agree with Alisa Smith: You want the shutters to be a color that complements stone color. Same for door, but don't make shutters and door same exact color. Landscaping will be key in this project, you should consider investing in plants. Good luck!
