Frameless glass shower door gap

What is the industry standard width of the space between a glass door hinge side and the wall? I recently had a frameless glass shower installed and this space seems quite large. It's currently about a quarter inch. Pictures below. Thank you in advance.

I design frameless showers every day and install the complicated ones. The gap you are showing is 3/8" that's about 1/8" to 3/16" above the accepted norm. WE use 1/4" at the hinge side and 3/16" at the strike side. I would have not used a header nor would I have used any clamps on the horizontal surfaces, I also would not have use a pivot and post hinges system as you lose 3" of usable space when the door opens. I would have used 3 hinges 2 on the kneewall and one glass to glass hinge on the door / panel and would have removed the springs from that hinge, To accommodate for any out of plumb conditions I would have followed the straight line through to the small panel so the hinge pins would be in line. Thats a little complicated. I do design and ship showers nationwide so drop me an e-mail if you need my help.

I am not aware of the industry standard for this - but there probably is one as there is for everything in the construction industry. Are you saying the door is hinged off the half wall at the bottom and off the fixed glass panel at the top? That would not be an ideal setup. They can put a flexible, clear vinyl piece in the gap, but it may not stay because the door has to move without being constricted. We usually put the hinge side of the door on the solid wall and try to position everything so that the gap is not near the shower head. I can't remember ever having a gap of that size.

Deborah, below is a picture of how the door is hinged. Is this what you would do?
Btw, we've since replaced the shower arm with one that comes straight out 15" and the shower head is more along the lines of a rain head shower. So that it's not pointing directly at the door!

thanks for the additional picture. Helps a lot. You can talk to them about trying to put one of the plastic pieces on that side, but the hinges have to work and the glass has to be able to rotate so it may not work. You can't silicone it for the same reasons. One of the things that looked possible was to change the little side piece as it seems to be cut short of the edge of the wall. That would close it down to about 1/8".
