Need help with landscape

What can i do with this area that I cleared up? I want to plant something drought tolerant. This area gets sun after about 1-2 pm till evening. I picked up a bird of paradise, chinese lantern and arabian jasmine. ??any good? I love some color..and was also thinking of planting a fruit tree..citrus?. Would appreciate some suggestions. Thanks.
