So my wife and i decided we were going to go cheap/artistic with our kitchen countertops. We have an older home and spending the money for nice granite in a house with our price ceiling didn't make since, as we won't be here forever. So we decided to tile the countertops with dark marble tiles, which turned out really pretty. The issue is that with marble being such busy stone, plus grout lines, we need a simple backsplash that wont look chaotic and messy. BUT we don't wont boring plain travertine backsplash either. Our kitchen is small so we painted the cabinets white and then glazed them so the look distressed. (Dark cabinets would make the space feel really small) We both like glass/stone mix backsplash but all of the light ones that don't take away from the marble, clash with the cabinets. HELP!!
