We have a new house and the back yard is a little boring. It doesn't have the "hangout appeal" we'd like. The grass is green and we even planted new trees but we needed a little something more. The patio is covered but it had the boring old vinyl siding that is common in so many spec homes. (See first picture.) I took the vinyl down to check out the bones and thought there was something there I could work with. (Second picture.) We started by painting the joists and rafters and covering all the ugly metal joist fasteners. (Third picture.) We put up some cedar and added some lights (final picture). We love it! What do you think?
