i painted my kitchen floor w/Kelly Moore Dura Poxy in a cream color over 70s vinyl with a brown/gold pattern---pix attached is out of focus but you might be able to see the impressions of tile on lower right---i did 4-5 coats but the embossing of the vinyl still shows as do the divots. i painted different sections of a large kitchen over a period of about 2-3 weeks---paint is really durable but smelly until it dries, and it does dry fast--- with the light color i chose, the floor shows marks easily; still---it's better than the ugly vinyl and at $50. a gal. for paint, it's lots cheaper than new floor.

HI -- Big NO -- your just going to paint yourself a big problem . The wear and tear and being vinyl , it just won't work no matter what kind of paint . Put the money you would spend on the paint in a savings for a new floor . Money better spent.

hmmmm, my painted floor is a year or so old and has lots of kids/pets traffic---it does mar easily but washes well / and if one wants "perfect" you are perhaps right----but i'm glad i painted it ---are you a flooring contractor?

HI -- Not , not a flooring contractor ,but thank you -- I just have years of experience in these matters and have seen the after math of what people think was a good idea at the time ! Is that good enough ?
