What is opposite of the staircase and what leads to the room with the 2 chairs?

It leads into our dining room (please excuse the kids mess)

Have you tried moving the sofa under the window where the trunk is located and float the chair to the side or move the two chairs that's in the other room and face the sofa for conversation seating. Looks like you have tall ceilings, I would add curtain panels with color, pattern and texture to the room. 96" or 106" high to bring your eye up. Maybe use the trunk as a coffee table.

Remove the white chair out the space.

You could also add a sofa table or a desk in the room where the two chairs are, with a bookcase on the wall facing your dining table. Or you can choose to move your table from the kitchen where the two chairs are for formal dining. Small casual dining in the kitchen.

I make a quick scratch from what I think. I hope would help.

Hi,
Start with kitchen
-get rid if valance and curtain in that corner
-move water tank different location as from pic look like it's focus area when walk in the door
-put console with eye catching art in the corner
- move the dinning table the longer length to follow flow of that wall to see the two chair at dinning and bench

The room where two chair
Put curtain here
TV on that wall
2 seat sofa facing that wall

The room next to stairs
Curtain here
The corner next stair put real high tall
plant
Move the two chairs facing against stairs as in my pic
The single sofa chair in corner
May need a bench in between the two room
Corner where current tv is to put seatee or bench with pillows make it cozy and on way in and out door to have a seat wait area
Hope helpful. I love decoration and plan take design school but I am a nurse ( live doing nursing also)
