From Garage to Man Cave!

We have a detached garage that was built in 1908. For decades, it has just been a storage place for family member's old cars, tools and any unwanted junk. My husband and I decided that it was in desperate need of some major cleaning out and reorganizing. We also thought it would be a fun place to put all of his arcade games and TVs.

It's gorgeous! I would love this, would your hubs be offended that I like it too and I'm not even a guy? ;-)) it would be a great place for craft projects, art studio, woodworking, even guest room. I have a garage and the car has never once been in it. Looks just like your before pictures. Can you share what he put on the floor to make it look so amazing? Some kind of fancy 2-part epoxy paint, or...? Any special kind of prep required before application, or just roll it on? Thnx!!!!

Thank you everyone! My husband is very happy with the way it turned out. Now the only problem is that I can't get him out of there :)

Thank you! I love the space too, such a relaxed place to hang out. We used an epoxy paint for the floor. It's a lot of work, but totally worth it! First we rented a floor maintainer from Home Depot with a diamond brush attachment (it's basically a grinder that opens the pores in the concrete). Then we degreased it twice and caulked all the joints. Then we put on two coats of epoxy, the flakes, and two coats of top coat and Ta-Da, new floor!

Elizabeth, thanks for the informative and thoughtful reply re: the floor treatment. This is very helpful as I dream about my some-day garage makeover. Unbelievable transformation on this space, you guys did a lot of work and you deserve our admiration for doing all that hard work, the result is just stunning. Great before/after pics...thanks again for sharing your project.
