Agree with Junky Fresh---that arrangement is most attractive upon entry. You can never have another first impression... CheerS!

I would move your rug under the sofa forward. I feel that by having your rug that much to the wall makes your room even look narrower. Having your rug uses the width of the room would help. In the drawing below I added a bookcase that has no back. You can put decorative accents. It would separate the 2 rooms without completely closing them. I happened to watch a show from Candice Olson today and she was working with a long dining/living room combination. She mentioned that to break the 2 rooms she needs a focal point between them. In her show, she installed a gas fireplace but in your case, you could place a very large art on the wall between the dining table and the sofa. I would make sure it has colors in it so it really catches the eye.That could replace the bookcase I drew below if you prefer. I believe having colors in your draperies would also help seeing an end to the room.

I like option B better, feels like a better use of the space.

I would move the sofa table under the window and push the sofa closer to the wall, pull the rug out into the room and flank the two chairs on either side of the sofa. This is a better layout for watching television. Purchase two end tables, put the lamps on them and, if you have room, a small rectangular cocktail table (chrome legs with a marble top). I would also add two more dining chairs to the table and a floral (orchid) to make the space look more complete and move the floor lamp to the opposite corner. To accessorize the sofa table, stack some books, add some greenery, and use a couple of tall candle holder and picture frames (Don't make it too cluttered, just have some variation in height). Some color is needed via art and throw pillows. Overall it's a very nice space, just needs a little tweaking. Good Luck :-)

I have same issue, I have a living dining combo, dont know how to arrange the whole space, having trouble how to decorate those mismatch windows, any sugestions for those walls? ( I put that wall paint temporarily) and re arranging the furnitures?

I have got an idea of wall decor around the window (but i need the size), with a New York photographs theme in black and white with a pop of red color. I can propose you an other theme if you don't like .

If you are actually using the room to watch TV, B does not work. I'd add side chairs (comfy ones) to either side of the sofa and end tables or coffee table instead if the console behind the sofa. I agree with adding 2 more chairs to the table. You could put the console table under the window.

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions I have taken many of your advice and have stuck with option B it does seem the most practical.
