Range Hood - With or Without Corbels?

We have an 8' Ceiling and trying to finish the Range Hood design but can't decide -(1) if we should have corbels under the mantle, (2) corbels under the hood (tough as they need to be either custom, or back against the wall or mounted to wood as the hood is 24" deep and most corbels are around 6" or so deep, OR (3) no corbels just the custom hood...help?!

I think in an 8' ceiling they are going to look very heavy in the 2 pics you posted those are both much higher ceilings

What is the brand and model # of the range? The installation instructions will have the correct clearances for a wood hood enclosure.

we have the clearances all taken care of - basically we are just working with design - I appreciate your comment Patricia that they look heavy....funny, my gut isn't satisfied yet with what we have; trying to balance "not too simple/cheap looking & not too overdone!" - HELP?

The corbels are overkill in your design, I think. Keep it simple and save money at the same time. Good luck to you.

If you think you have the correct clearances taken care of, then your drawing is so far out of proportion that asking people what they think of the design is futile.

You can go with a simple, narrow corbel with the depth you need. Try Custom Trim in Houston, tx. They sell and can also custom make wood corbels in many sizes and depths.

Completely out of scale with the room sze. Too wide and too much detail. Needs to all be at least 66'' from the floor for fire code, including corbels, and that only leaves you 30'' overall to work with, including any crown.

I'll go with a simple, narrow design. You may also try asking Carolina Heartwood cabinetry ( http://carolinaheartwoodcabinetry.com/our-products/art-for-everyday/). They did our cabinets and corbels...they might be able to help you with specific questions.
